When Mirage's layoffs hit the news, celebrity it-girl and cousin of Penelope, Helen of Troy posted a video on her Youtube channel addressing her thirty-four-million subscribers. In the video, Helen casually speaks to the multiple scandals she is currently under fire for but also holds Penelope accountable for the ills she has committed.
Helen first came on to the scene as the first Bachelorette on
For the Love of the Gods in which she ended up marrying Edward Jacobs. Earlier this month, Helen was accused of cheating on Edward with a dashing but rather sweaty man named Paris who was actually a contestant on Helen's season of FTLOTG. With all of this drama going on, HelenCosmetics has been hurting. Therefore, forcing Odysseus, Penelope's husband and Helen's main investor, to flee Ithaca go to Troy for the remainder of the month. Many affair rumors have been bubbling up around Helen and Odysseus but Helen quickly shuts them down by simply saying "not for me."
In Helen's video, she not only addresses these scandals and rumors but also makes shady comments about Penelope, and as
the video was released after Mirage's layoffs it is to be assumed that Helen knows Penelope's true colors and is not afraid to share her thoughts.
It is known the two cousins have always had a tumultuous relationship but in January this year Helen extended the olive branch by naming one of her famous lip-kits after her cousin.
However, despite the grand gesture, the two-women just cannot seem to find a healthy relationship. Maybe it is a long, brooding rivalry between the cousins or maybe it is that Penelope does not actually support women. With all the accusations that have recently come to light, I would argue that it is the later.
